- Damping-off disease is one of the important deseases of eggplant cultivated in lowland swampy area. This research was conducted to determine the ability of Penicillium sp. in reducing damping-off disease caused by Rhizoctonia solani in seedling stage. Results showed that treatments with Penicillium sp. except for pre-emergence damping-off, efectivery reduced disease severity of Rhizoctonia solani with various percentage of disease reduction. The presentage of disease reduction on pre-emegence damping-off, post-emergence damping-off and disease severity in the seedling treated with Penicillium sp. was ranged 0,00-100,00%, 82,77-100,00%, 56,14-95,61%, respectively. Penicillium sp. is potensial biocontrol agents against damping-off disease of eggplant and could support sustainable disease management in lowland swampy area.
