- The objective of this study was to reveal the effect of the variable of government expenditure in the sector of health, education, and capital expenditure on the level of poverty in south sumatera province. The data used in this study were the secondary data from the period of 2000-2013 published by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and other related agencies. The method of analysis used was multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicated that the government spending in the sector of health had a positive and significant effect on the level of poverty in the province of south sumatera. The spending in the sector of education did not Significantly effect the level of poverty in the province of south sumatera. Whereas the capital expenditures significantly effect the level of poverty in the province of south sumatera with negative effect.
