- ABSTRACT Duku ((Lansium domesticum Corr.) plant is a very popular juicy fruit not only in South Sumatra but also in Jakarta. This plants are grown in Alluvial soils especially on river corridor, where they spread all over Musi watershed. River corridors are acreage and very long in South Sumatra, it’s about 928.81 km length and variable in width, with the whole corridor acreage are about 18,576 ha. Duku is a long life plant, which can grow up to more than 100 years. Duku plant also can grow very well on low to moderate soil chemical and physical properties i.e. low pH; low N, P, K, Ca, Mg, O.M., and C.E.C. content, loam to sandy loam texture, and from <50 cm to 150 cm soil water table. Thus this plant is suitable in river corridor (levee), where is dominated by Alluvial soil which is generally shown by low to moderate soil fertility. Then in order to conserve the river corridor, it is suggested that if duku was grown as polyculture with another perrenial fruits, these can be used as soil and water conservation method. It is better than the corridor is just bare or cultivated. But the Forest Menister Regulation No. 837/Kpts/II/1990 has to be amended. Key Words : Duku (Lansium domesticum Corr.), Alluvial, corridor, river, Musi.
