Daftar Isi:
- The purposes of the research were to develop Bacillus thuringiensis based bioinsecticide using several media which is cheap, abundance in quantity and high toxicity to insect pests. Soil samples was taken from swampy area in Ogan ilir District Suth Sumatera Province. Isolation and identification of B. thuringiensis isolate and bioassay were conducted in Laboratory of Phytopathology and Laboratory of Entomology, Dept. Plant Pests and Disease. Faculty of Agriculture Sriwijaya University. Observations were focused on number of spore production and their toxicity against Plutella xylostella larvae. Media used were coconut water, soybean soakoing water, tofu liquid waste, mixture of coconuts water and soybean soaking water (1:1, v/v) mixture of coconut water and tofu liquid waste (1:1, v/v), and Nutrient Broth, as well. The results showed the highest spore production was yielded from mixture of coconuts water and soybean soaking water (1:1, v/v), i/e. 3.02 x 106 spores/ml, while the lowest one was on tofu liquid waste media, i.e. 2.37 x 102 sopres/ml. Bioassay test showed 100 percent mortality of P.xylostella on mixture of coconut water and soybean soaking water media. The use of cheap and safe media such as industrial and agricultural waste was suitable for producing B. thuringiensis-based bioinsecticide
