- The objective of this research was to identify potencyand inhibitant of ruminants livestock development concerning pasture availability and labours and analizyng the priority of ruminants goverment livestock agency in lahat South Sumatera. This study was done from january to februari 2007. Calculation method used effective capacity calculation of ruminants population improvment (Livestock Directorate General,1998). The result showed that value for effective capacity of ruminants population (KPPTR) in lahat is positive about 282.892,51 ST. Main priority the developing of ruminants livestock area in lahat are Ulu Musi, Lahat, Merapi, Muara Pinang, Tebing Tinggi, Lintang Kanan, Pendopo, Pasemah Air Keruh, Pulau Pinang, Tanjung Sakti, Jarai, Pajar Bulan, Kota Agung, Kikim Barat, Mulak Ulu, Tlang Padang, Kikim Timur, Kikim Selatan and the last Kikim Tengah.
