Daftar Isi:
- Surveys were conducted during January up to April 2003. The objectives of the study were to record host species of leaf miner, L. sativae, and to detect leafminer damage on tomato leaves. Leafminer-infested leaves were collected weekly from various plants in South Sumatera for determining the leafminer hosts. Leafminer damage recorded on tomato leaves, and the leaves were sampled weekly to observe the damage. The result showed that a total of 26 species of plants could be infested by the leafminer. Foliage damage caused by leaf miner activity of L. sativae larvae caused linear, irregular (serpentine), whitish or greenish mines. Heavily damaged crops appeared as if they had been scorched by fire. Throughout tomato growing season, level of foliage damage caused by the leafminer ranged 2.96-40.33%. The damage peak occured at 7 weeks after transplanting (40.33%). Heavily damaged appeared on mature leaves (50.94%) or lower stratum of the tomato. L. sativae damage varies, and its effects on yield have not yet to be completely determined. Thus, the research is necessary to carry out.
