- This article was based on an investigation concerning character attributes in regards to their role in leadership. The investigation involved the sixth semester students of the English Education Study Program at Sriwijaya University Inderalaya. Utilizing the qualitative method, the investigation resulted in the following findings. Firstly, the results of the investigation revealed that honesty and responsibility were the characters attributes that were mostly cited by the participants as the important character attributes that can help form a good leader. Secondly, the students participated in this study cited responsibility and discipline as the character attributes that teachers should have in order to perform their role as a leader in the classroom. Thirdly, the students participated in this study argued that in order to help students build their character, teachers, regardless the subject they teach, should act as a model and a facilitator. The students participated in this study also believed that the character attributes that they posses would play a very important role in performing their leadership role in the future.
