- The objectives of this study were to find out (1) the difference in listeningcomprehension achievement of the 7th grade students of SMP Islam Az-Zahrah IIPalembang before and after the students were taught using Intralingual subtitling(2) the difference in listening comprehension achevement between students whowere taught using intralingual subtitling and those who were not (3) how muchcontribution that each aspect of listening comprehension gives to listeningachievement. The population was 61 seventh grade students of SMP IslamAz-Zahrah II Palembang in the academic year 2016/2017 with purposivesampling method. Quasi experimental design was used in this study. Pre-test andPost-test were used to collect the data. The result of the test was analyzed byusing both paired sample t-test and Independent sample t-test. Regression analysiswith stepwise method was used to analyze the contribution of aspect of listening.The result from paired sample t-test showed that p-value (.000) was less than 0.05and the t-obtained (10.336) was higher than the value of t-table (2.101) whichmeans that there was a significant difference before and after the students hadbeen taught through the use of Intralingual subtitling on audio-visual media. Theresult of the regression analysis showed that each aspects of listening gavecontribution. The highest contribution of students listening comprehensionachievement was in identifying details (54,6%), followed by main idea (17%),inference (14,6%), recognizing keywords (12%) and discriminate between sound(2.1%).Keywords: listening comprehension, teaching listening, Intralingual Subtitling
