- Inventory contain strategic meaning in trading companies. Capital tied up in merchandise inventory is the greatest current assets for the company. In keeping the company remains in a good position, it is important for companies to do the evaluation of the internal control structure, especially for the part of the merchandise inventory. This was done so that companies avoid any possible losses. This study conducted to assess the extent of implementation of the internal control structure on the merchandise inventory at PT Salemba Emban Patria Palembang Branch. This study uses primary data and secondary data obtained from the relevant parties at PT Salemba Emban Patria Palembang Branch. The data analysis was conducted by evaluating the elements of internal control structure in the company. The results showed that the internal control structure at PT Salemba Emban Patria Palembang Branch is appropriate but not fully follow the standards setted by the company. The author suggests some improvement in the company’s internal control structure to be repaired.
