  • The objective of this study was to find out how much the contribution of outliningmethod to the 10th grade students’ descriptive writing achievement of SMA Negeri 1 Sekayuis. This study applied one of the quasi-experimental design, that was the pre-test and post-testnon-equivalent control group design. The sample of this study comprised 62 tenth gradestudents of SMA Negeri 1 Sekayu in academic year 2015-2016. There were two groups: theexperimental group consisted of 31 students and control group consisted of 31 students. Adescriptive writing test was administered twice as the pre-test and post-test to collect the data.The data were analyzed by using Multiple Regression Analysis. The results of this studyshowed that outlining method gives 50,1% contribution to the 10th grade students’ descriptivewriting achievement of SMA Negeri 1 Sekayu. In summary, outlining method could beapplied to help students improve their descriptive writing achievement
