  • This study was aimed at figuring out whether or not there was any significantdifference in vocabulary achievement after the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri14 Palembang were taught by using word chain game and whether or not there wasany significant difference in vocabulary achievement between the seventh gradestudents of SMP Negeri 14 Palembang who were taught by using word chain gameand those who were not. In this study, the writer used one of quasi experimentaldesigns which was non equivalent control group design. The samples involved in thisstudy were 80 seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 14 Palembang in the academicyear 2012/2013 who were divided into two groups, the experimental group and thecontrol group. In collecting the data, the writer administered vocabulary test in pretest and post-test to the sample. The result of the test was analyzed by using pairedand independent sample t-test in SPSS 20.
