- National ministry of education pay a big portion seriously in order to increase the education quality such as characterized education. Realizing the imprortance of character, there are so many parties demand the intensity and quality improvement of the implementation on characterized education at formal institution of education. The demand based on social phenomenon, that is the improvement on teenager mischief in society, such as mass fighting and other moral degradation cases. Therefore, it is hoped that, formal education institution can increase its role as a formal institution to construct students personality through the intensity and quality improvement on characterized education. MTsN Model Padang, as one of pilot school in West Sumatera Province also has applied characterized education since 2011/2012. The headmaster, teacher and the administration staff have been introduced to the principles and the way to implement characterized education, through seminar or workshop held by Education Department or The Ministry of Religion. Therefore, there should be known how far the implementation of nation characteristic basic value in learning, especially on mathematic learning at MTsN Model Padang. Formulation of the problem in this research is: “ How is the implementation of nation character education basic value in mathematic learning at MTsN Model Padang? The objective of this research is to figure out the implementation of basic value of nation character education in mathematic learning at MTsN Model Padang. This is a descriptive research. The sample consist of 188 students and 8 mathematic teachers of MTsN Model Padang. The technique of data collection used in this research are questionnaire, observation, interview and documentation. Based on data gathered, it can be concluded that the impelementation of basic value of nation character education in mathematic learning at MTsN Model Padang has been applied well. It is based on teacher and students’ mean on questionnaire score, that is at range 3-4, therefore it can be categorized as good. However, there are also problem in the impelementation, such as the difficulty in looking for contextual characher education in learning mathematic. Next, negative influence from outside school, and limitation on number of mathematic course book which bases on nation character. Teacher efforts in maintaining problem on the implementation of character education in learning, such as giving contextual example based on teachers’ experience, giving advice and motivation in order to reduce students mischief, also be active on MGMP discussion and lesson study to look for a better learning method and strategy, so that it can be implemented well.
