- PAKEM is a learning approach that be given to students in studying chemistry at atomic structure of matter and the periodic system in high school. The pupose of this study is to find out the effectiveness of the approach PAKEM in improving student learning outcomes in atomic structure of matter and periodic system of elements. This study used inferential research design. The study population was students in grade XI IPA 3 SMA N 1 Telaga, Gorontalo Regency 2011/2012 school year.
