This study aims to point out that every character has different needs in whole story. Either conscious or unconsciously, they tried to fulfill the hierarchy of needs in order to survive. To achieve its purpose, this study focuses on main characters analysis in Requiem novel by Lauren Oliver. Psychoanalytic is the approach which is used in analyzing main characters, they are Lena and Hana. Hence, this study used qualitative descriptive method. In data collecting, this study collected based on each character which are containing in level of hierarchy of needs. There are 24 data found in this study. Therefore, in data finding is categorized into five levels of hierarchy of needs. They are basic needs (physiological needs, safety, love and belonging, esteem) and growth needs (self-actualization). Furthermore, the data analyze by using psychoanalytic theory which explore about the instinct of motivation in preserve of life. The final result is each character cannot move to highest level. While, it will be easier to fill basic needs when character dominant in growth needs. Keyword: Woman, Character, Hierarchy of Needs, Psychoanalytic.
