- Abstract This study aims to analyze the Address Terms used by the characters in a movie. It focuses to identify British Address Terms. It applies the theory of Wardaugh. This theory aims to find out the kinds of Address Terms. It is because there are many variations of Address Terms used by the characters in a movie. This research also applies speaking theory by Hymes, it analyzes the reason of using different Address Terms. Hence, this research focuses its analysis of British Address Terms used by the characters in Harry Potter movie especially in chamber of Secret episode. The data are taken from the utterances in conversations of the characters. In findings, there are five kinds of Address Terms; Address terms use name, respect/honorific, kinship, mockery and intimacy. Moreover, the most Address Terms used is addressing terms use name. In analysis, the characters in this movie, does not apply the culture of British Address Terms as a royal country, because this movie tells about the life in school, thus the author J.K Rowling arrange the characters to use common Address Terms.
