- Abstract One of the strategies used by companies as the support for their success is qualified human resources. In this case, salespersons constitute one of human resources in a company who play an important role in achieving the company’s goal. The formulation of the problem was whether selling ability, and training influenced salespersons’ performance at PT BINTANG BALIGE JAYA. The objective of the study was to know and to analyze the influence of selling ability, and training directly influenced salespersons’ performance. The theory used in this study was Marketing Management which dealt with selling ability, and salespersons’ performance. The type of the study was descriptive quantitative. The population was 150 salespersons who worked for PT BINTANG BALIGE JAYA, and 109 of them were used as the samples, using purposive random sampling technique. The data were gathered by conducting interviews, questionnaires, and documentary study. The hypothesis was tested by using multiple regression analysis. The result of the study showed that selling ability, and training had positive and significant influence on salespersons’ performance. The coefficient determination value (R2) indicated that the variables of selling ability, and training were able to explain 89,2% on the variable of salespersons’ performance, while the rest (10,8%) was explained by other independent variables excluded in this study. Simultaneous test of the results obtained for 435.896 and significant (<0.05), whereas the partial test results obtained from that variable selling ability, and training had positive and significant impact.
