Daftar Isi:
- Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (KNF) is a malignancy that appears in the nasopharynx (the area above the throat and behind the nose). This carcinoma is the most malignant squamous cell type. Nasopharyngeal cancer handler is with radiotherapy, which is a measurable dose of radiation on the target volume to kill cancer cells as much as possible by minimizing the effects of radiation on healthy tissue around the tumor. The purpose of this research is to know Optimalization of External Radiotherapy on Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma with Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) technique. In Radiotherapy Installation of Ken Saras Hospital Dr.Semarang.This type of research is qualitative with case study approach. Data collection was conducted in October-December 2017 at Radiotherapy Installation of Ken Saras Hospital Semarang by observation method, interview with Radiation Oncologist, Medical Physicist and Radiographer. The data obtained from the study were analyzed by an interactive model, making the interview transcripts subsequently reduced and processed in the form of open coding, presented in the form of quotations and then can be drawn conclusions. The results of this study indicate that treatment of nasopharyngeal cancer treatment using IMRT technique at Radiotherapy Installation Ken Saras Hospital Semarang includes patient consultation, Molding room, CT Simulator shooting, contouring, planning medical physics then verification and radiation treatments. IMRT technique uses inverse planing technique by entering parameter parameters first before making planing. The parameters include Planing Target Volume (PTV), Clinical Target Tumor (CTV), Gross Target Tumor (GTV) and Organ At Risk (OAR). dosage distribution is more homogeneous and the location of the target volume is close to the Organ At Risk. Optimal using 11 radiation field to get better conformity so that in the distribution of doses to the healthy organ to a minimum and distribution of doses to the target of the tumor as much as possible.
