  • Potency of Some Endophytic Bacteria Isolates for Biocontrol of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp cepae on Shallot Basal root disease (Fusarium oxysporum f.sp cepae) is an important disease in shallot plants which causes high yield losses. The aim of this study was to evaluate the ability of several endophytic bacterial isolates (APE22, APE35, BAT2-2, and MER) originated from ferns, mangroves, and pepper plants to control F. oxysporum f.sp cepae on shallots in in vitro and in planta experiment. The results showed that all bacterial isolates were able to inhibit the growth of F. oxysporum f.sp cepae in vitro with percent inhibition ranging from 37.78% to 83.33% depending on the isolates tested. In planta experiment conducted in a greenhouse showed that endophytic bacteria were able to stimulate the growth of shallot plants and to reduce the incidence and severity of basal root rot disease. Among all the endophytic bacteria tested, isolate BAT2-2 showed the highest ability to suppres disease severity compared to other endophytic isolates.
  • Penyakit busuk pangkal (Fusarium oxysporum f.sp cepae) merupakan penyakit penting pada tanaman bawang merah yang menyebabkan kehilangan hasil tinggi. Penelitian bertujuan menguji kemampuan beberapa isolat bakteri endofit (APE22, APE35, BAT2-2, dan MER) yang berasal dari tumbuhan paku-pakuan, bakau, dan tanaman lada untuk mengendalikan F. oxysporum f.sp cepae pada bawang merah secara in vitro dan in planta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua isolat bakteri yang diuji mampu menghambat pertumbuhan F. oxysporum f.sp cepae secara in vitro dengan persentase penghambatan berkisar 37.78%–83.33% bergantung pada isolat yang diuji. Uji in planta di rumah kaca menunjukkan bakteri endofit mampu memacu pertumbuhan tanaman bawang merah dan menurunkan insidensi serta keparahan penyakit busuk pangkal. Di antara seluruh bakteri endofit uji, isolat BAT2-2 menunjukkan kemampuan menekan keparahan penyakit paling tinggi dibandingkan dengan isolat lainnya.
