- Abstract-Normal operation of electrical machines and equipmentis conditioned, among others, by the insulation systems status.Therefore, diagnosing insulation systems in order to estimatetheir lifetime reserve is very important, both for new equipmentand especially for those in operation.This paper presents a lifetime calculation of a medium powerelectrical machine, whose operating cycle is known. For thispurpose, the thermal lifetime curve of the machineâsCalmicaglas insulation was experimentally determined; by usingthe Arrhenius equation, the coefficient values corresponding tothe curve were calculated, followed by the total wear andremaining lifetime of the tested machine.
