- Industri tapioka yang sedang berkembang di Indonesia menghasilkan air limbah yang berpeluang mencemari lingkungan. Peluang pencemaran tersebut dapat dicegah dengan penanganan air limbah tapioka effluent dari biogas reactor dengan menggunakan alat Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR). Tujuan dari Penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh dan taraf optimum dari perlakuan konsentrasi koagulan tawas dan lama pengendapan serta interaksi kedua perlakuan tersebut dalam perbaikan kualitas air limbah industri tapioka menjadi air bersih. Penelitian ini disusun dalam rancangan acak kelompok lengkap 2 faktor. Faktor-faktor tersebut antara lain konsentrasi koagulan tawas pada taraf 0,05%, 0,075%, 0,1% dan 0,125% serta faktor lama pengendapan dengan taraf 5, 10, 15 dan 30 menit. Data yang diperoleh diuji kesamaan ragamnya dengan uji Bartlett dan kepenambahan data diuji dengan uji Tuckey. Selanjutnya data dianalisis sidik ragam untuk mengetahui pengaruh antar perlakuan, data diolah lebih lanjut dengan uji Ortogonal Polinomial - Ortogonal Kontras dengan taraf 1% dan 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kombinasi konsentrasi koagulan tawas 0,05% dan lama pengendapan 5 menit menjadi perlakuan terbaik, interaksi keduanya menghasilkan effluent dengan karakteristik nilai COD sebesar 140,33 mg/L, nilai SVI sebesar 115,74 mL/g, nilai TDS sebesar 1450 mg/L, dan nilai TSS sebesar 0,63 mg/L sesuai dengan ketetapan Permenkes No.416/MEN.KES/PER/IX/1990 tentang kualitas air bersih. ABSTRACT Industry tapioca that was growing in Indonesia produce water waste are likely to pollute the environment. Opportunities pollution that can be prevented with the handling of water waste tapioca effluent from biogas reactor by using Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR). The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of and level optimum of treatment concentrations of alum and sedimentation time along the interaction of the two treatments are the improvement of the quality of water waste industrial tapioca into the clean water. This study was arranged in a complete randomized block design with two factors. The factors are concentration of coagulant alum at the level of 0,05%, 0,075%, 0,1% and 0,125%, and the factors of sedimentation time with level 5, 10, 15 and 30 minutes. The data obtained were tested for similarity with the Bartlett test, and the Tuckey test tested the additional property of data. Furthermore, The data were analyzed for a variance to determine the effect between treatments, the data were further processed by the Orthogonal Polynomial - Orthogonal Contras test with 1% and 5% level. Results of the study showed that the combination of the concentration of alum 0,05% and with 5 minutes sedimentation time is the best treatment, the interaction of there both treatment produce effluent with a characteristic value of COD amounted to 140,33 mg/L, the value of SVI amounted to 115,74 mL/g, the value of TDS amounted to 1450 mg/L, and a TSS value of 0,63 mg/L as requested with the provisions of the minister of health regulations No.416/MEN.KES/PER/IX/1990 regarding clean water quality.
