- This study aims to determine the implementation of disaster mitigation in the village of way muli timur, Rajabasa District, South Lampung Regency . Mitigation is very important for areas that have a high disaster risk. A community that has a good level of mitigation will have a lower risk of losing victims when a disaster occurs. In this study using qualitative research research methods with descriptive research type. Involving 7 Infoman den g a n some of the criteria that has been set before. From the research results, it was found that the people of Way Muli Timur Village began to realize and understand about the disaster at the time they themselves have experienced a disaster it . Conditions Mitigation in the area of coastal khusu s her Desa Way Muli Timur before disaster sedik i t once done aka n but after catastrophic events mitigation began to be seen. Activity mitigating disasters in fact already begun conducted just only for understanding the public will mitigate it low so they have not m e Knowing where Mitigation that exist in the village .The existence of mitigating disasters clearly visible from where a team of volunteer village (SIBAT) which has been formed with the goal that no group of people in thevillage who have the knowledge and ability that adequately about the disaster. Keywords : Mitigation , Society , Disaster Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pelaksanaan Mitigasi bencana di Desa way muli timur, Kecamatan Rajabasa, Kabupaten Lampung Selatan. Mitigasi menjadi hal yang sangat penting bagi daerah yang memilki resiko bencana tinggi. Masyarakat yang memiliki tingkat mitigasi yang baik maka akan semakin rendah resiko kehilangan korban ketika terjadi bencana. Dalam Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian penelitian kualitatif dengan tipe penelitian deskriptif. Melibatkan 7 orang Infoman dengan beberapa kriteria yang sudah di tetapkan sebelumnya. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan masyarakat Desa Way Muli Timur mulai sadar dan mengerti soal bencana pada saat mereka sendiri telah mengalami bencana itu. Kondisi Mitigasi di wilayah pesisir khusunya desa way muli timur pra bencana sedikit sekali dilakukan akan tetapi pasca bencana kegiatan mitigasi mulai terlihat. Kegiatan mitigasi bencana sebetulnya sudah dimulai dilaksanakan hanya saja karena pemahaman masyarakat akan mitigasi itu rendah jadi mereka belum mengetahui keberadaan Mitigasi yang ada di desa. Keberadaan Mitigasi bencana jelas terlihat dari keberadaan tim relawan desa (SIBAT) yang sudah dibentuk dengan tujuan agar ada kelompok masyarakat di desa yang memiliki pengetahuan dan kemampuan yang memadai soal kebencanaan.
