- Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara yang memiliki banyak etnis dan suku sehingga menjadikannya sebuah negara yang memiliki banyak keberagaman. Tidak dipungkiri, banyaknya jumlah etnis dan suku yang ada di Indonesia menyebabkan terjadinya proses komunikasi lintas budaya di antara mereka, salahsatunya dari etnis Tionghoa dengan etnis Jawa khususnya yang ada di Kota Metro. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari tahu mengenai (1) proses komunikasi lintas budaya antara etnis Tionghoa dan etnis Jawa, (2) hambatan dalam komunikasi lintas budaya etnis Tionghoa dan etnis Jawa, Dampak komunikasi lintas budaya yang terjadi antara etnis Tionghoa dan etnis Jawa dalam kehidupan sosial, dan (3) Bagaimana pola komunikasi yang terbentuk antara etnis Tionghoa dan etnis Jawa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah fenomenologi dengan teknik pengumpulan data wawancara dan observasi. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan teori komunikasi antarbudaya Samovar dan komunikasi antar pribadi Joseph devito. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah Proses Komunikasi Lintas Budaya Antar Etnis Tionghoa dan Etnis Jawa di Kota Metro terjalin sangat intens. Terlihat dari antar individu etnis yang sudah sadar akan perbedaan di antara mereka namun tidak menjadikan hal tersebut sebagai halangan untuk bergaul dan berinteraksi walaupun hambatan masih terselip di antara pengimplementasian proses komunikasi yang terjadi, dari segi bahasa sampai dengan isu rasialisme terkadang masih eksis. Selain itu, muncul banyak sekali nilai yang diperoleh oleh keduanya dalam proses ini, seperti nilai gotong royong, kerja keras, lemah lembut dalam berbicara menjadi nilai postitif bagi mereka. Pola komunikasi yang terbentuk dari adanya komunikasi antara etnis Tionghoa dan etnis Jawa ini adalah pola komunikasi dua arah atau timbal balik. Kata Kunci : Komunikasi antar budaya, Etnis Jawa, Etnis Tionghoa ABSTRACT Indonesia is a country that has many ethnicities and tribes, making it a country that has a lot of diversity. It is undeniable that the large number of ethnicities and tribes in Indonesia has led to a process of cross-cultural communication between them, one of which is Chinese and Javanese, especially those in Metro City. This study aims to find out about (1) the process of cross-cultural communication between Chinese and Javanese, (2) barriers to cross-cultural communication between Chinese and Javanese, the impact of cross-cultural communication that occurs between Chinese and Javanese in social life. , and (3) How the communication patterns formed between ethnic Chinese and Javanese. The research method used in this research is phenomenology with interview and observation data collection techniques. In this research, the theory of Samovar intercultural communication and interpersonal communication of Joseph Devito is used. The result of this research is that the intercultural communication process between Chinese and Javanese ethnics in Metro City is very intense. It can be seen from among ethnic individuals who are aware of the differences between them but do not make it an obstacle to socializing and interacting even though obstacles are still tucked between the implementation of the communication process that occurs, in terms of language to the issue of racism, sometimes still exist. In addition, there are a lot of values obtained by both of them in this process, such as the value of mutual cooperation, hard work, and gentleness in speaking to be positive values for them. The communication pattern formed from the existence of communication between Chinese and Javanese is a two-way or reciprocal communication pattern.
