- Reading is one of the essential language skills that must be mastered by EFL students. On the other hands, it is also one of the most difficult skills to acquire because students have no idea which reading strategy is the most effective for them to help promote their reading comprehension. Thus, this research was conducted to investigate the correlation between students’ reading strategy and their reading comprehension as well as to find out which reading strategy was used most frequently by the students to enrich their reading comprehension. The present research used quantitative method using product moment correlation as statistical parameter to see the correlation between two variables and excel formula to find out which reading strategy was used most frequently by the students. There were two instruments to get the answer of the research questions; they are questionnaire and test. The researcher must find all the data from both instruments. After tabulating the data into SPSS, the result of the research showed the score of 0.428, meaning that there was a significant correlation between students’ reading strategy and their reading comprehension. In addition, the strategy that was used most frequently by the students was problem solving strategy, showing that there were 54% of the middle level respondents (35 out of 63 respondents) chose this strategy. Moreover, it can be concluded that there was a significant correlation between two variables. It can be seen when the students got a low score in one of the tests, there must be an improvement of score in another test. Regardless of the result mentioned above, the reading strategy that was used most frequently were not always the same for each student, it depends on the respondents’ level, and every level gave different results as they chose the answer of the questionnaire based on their ability.
