- Hutan rakyat dipandang cukup strategis untuk memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat melalui pemanfaatan hasil hutan kayu (HHK) maupun hasil hutan bukan kayu (HHBK). Berbagai kegiatan ekonomi yang dilakukan masyarakat menyebabkan hutan tersebut mampu memberikan kontribusi yang nyata terhadap pendapatan. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah menganalisis total pendapatan petani dan kontribusi hutan rakyat terhadap pendapatan petani. Penentuan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode simple random sampling. Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik wawancara dan observasi di lapangan, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hutan rakyat memiliki kontribusi sebesar 81% terhadap pendapatan petani dengan total pendapatan rata-rata sebesar Rp 25.039.692/KK/tahun atau Rp 2.086.641/KK/ bulan. Optimalisasi pemanfaatan hutan rakyat masih perlu dilakukan, karena total pendapatan rata-rata petani masih berada di bawah UMK Kabupaten Tanggamus. Oleh karena itu kegiatan melalui pendidikan non formal seperti penyuluhan dinilai efektif untuk mengatasi hal tersebut agar pendapatan petani semakin meningkat. ABSTRACT Private forests are considered strategic enough to meet community needs through the use of timber forest products (TFP) and non-timber forest products (NTFP). Various economic activities carried out by the community have resulted in the forest being able to make a real contribution to income. The purpose of this research is to analyze the total income of farmers and the contribution of private forests to farmers income. The samples were determined using simple random sampling method. Data were collected using interview techniques and field observations, then analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results showed that private forests contributed 81% to farmers income with an average total income of Rp 25.039.692/capita/year or Rp 2.086.641/capita/month. Optimization of private forest utilization still needs to be done, because the total average income of farmers is still below the UMK Tanggamus Regency. Therefore, activities through non-formal education such as counseling are considered effective to overcome this so that farmers income will increase.
