- ABSTRAK Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yang bertujuan untuk (a) mengetahui rumusan pengembangan model problem based learning berbasis metakognitif berorientasi pada kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa., dan (b) mengetahui efektivitas model problem based learning berbasis metakognitif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian pengembangan ini mengadaptasi model Borg dan Gall. Prosedur penelitian yang dilakukan, meliputi research and information collecting, planning, develop preliminary from of product, preliminary field testing, main fiedl test, dan operation product revision. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Kartikatama Metro tahun pelajaran 2018/2019. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan tes. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah statistik deskriptif dan statistik parametrik (Uji-t). Desain model divalidasi oleh ahli model pembelajaran, sedangkan perangkat pembelajaran divalidasi ahli materi. Selanjutnya direvisi sesuai dengan pendapat ahli. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (a) model problem based learning berbasis metakognitif memiliki kriteria valid, dan (b) model problem based learning berbasis metakognitif efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan model problem based learnig berbais metakognitif lebih tinggi dari pada kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan model problem based learnig. Selain itu, peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan model problem based learnig berbais metakognitif dikategorikan tinggi. Kata kunci : problem based learning, metakognitif, berpikir kritis. ABSTRACT This research is a research and development (R&D) that aims to (a) find out the formulation of development of the problem based learning model based on metacognitive oriented students' critical thinking skills. and (b) know the effectivity of problem based learning model based on metacognitive in improve students' critical thinking skills. This development adapts the Borg anda Gall model. The research procedures include, research and information collecting, planning, develop preliminary from of product, preliminary field testing, main fiedl test, and operation product revision.The research subjects were VIII grade students of SMP Kartikatama Metro in the academic year of 2018/2019. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews, and test. Data analysis techniques used are descriptive statistics and parametric statistics (t-test). The model design validated by learning model design experts, while device learning validated by material experts. Then, it were revised according suggestion of experts. The research results are (a) problem based learning model based on metacognitive has valid criteria, and (b) problem based learning model based on metacognitive is effective improving students' critical thinking skills. This can be seen from the critical thinking skills of students whose learning using a problem based learning model based on metacognitive is higher than the critical thinking skills of students whose learning uses a problem-based learning model. In addition, the increase in critical thinking skills of students whose learning uses a problem based learning model based on metacognitive is categorized as high.
