  • The ability to comprehend reading texts becomes crucial skills for students to have as it might help them succeed in their study. However, the students' achievement of understanding English text is regarded as being low. This might be due a number of factors, one of which is the method. The current research was therefore aimed to find out; i) whether there was a statistically significant improvement of the students’ motivation after they were taught through MSRT, ii) whether there was statistically significant improvement of students’ reading comprehension after they were taught through MSRT, and iii) the correlation between the students’ motivation and their reading comprehension. The questionnaires and reading comprehension tests were used to elicit the data. The data were calculated by using Paired Sample T-test by comparing the pre-test and the post-test of the students' achievement of reading comprehension. Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used to explore the correlation between the students’ motivation and their reading comprehension. The results showed that the use of Modified Shared Reading Technique significantly improved both the students’ motivation and their reading comprehension achievement with the significant level 0.05. Furthermore, there was a significant correlation between the students’ motivation and reading comprehension with the correlation score 0.682, categorized as high correlation. This suggests that the Modified Shared Reading Technique facilitates the students to improve their both motivation and reading achievement.
