  • This research aims to determine and test i) the improvement of students' speaking achievement in applying the Modified Modeling Technique and Original Technique, ii) the improvement of learner's motivation in learning English before and after applying the Modified Modeling Technique, and iii) the most improved speaking aspect in Modified Modeling Technique. This research is quantitative research which uses true experimental design where pretest-posttest group control experiments are applied in this study. The subjects in this study were class XI students of SMAN 1 Pringsewu of the 2019/2020 academic year. The total of the subject were 60 students where each class consist of 30 students. The used motivation questionnaire and speaking test were to collect the data in this research. The results of this study indicate that i) there was a positive increase in students' speaking achievement in applying the Modified Modeling Technique, ii) there was a positive increase in the motivation of students learning language after applying the Modified Modeling Technique, and iii) the best aspect of improved speaking was comprehensibility. The conclusions of this study were i) Modified Modeling Technique was able to improve students' English speaking achievement, especially improvements in aspects contained in speaking, ii) Modified Modeling Technique to be able to improve student motivation in English, and iii) Modified Modeling Technique can improve the most aspects of students' speaking one of them was comprehensibility. This shows that by using the Modified Modeling technique students were motivated to learn and speak through existing models or examples, and able to improve students' comprehension before they start talking with their interlocutors.
