- Kerajaan Sekala Brak telah terlibat secara aktif dalam Pilgub Lampung 2018, dimana tokoh raja menyarankan seluruh masyarakat adat untuk mendukung dan memilih pasangan nomor 1 (satu) Muhammad Ridho Ficardo - Bachtiar Basri, ketika pemilihan ternyata hasilnya pasangan nomor 3 (tiga) Arinal Djunaidi - Chusnunia Chalim, justru memperoleh suara lebih banyak dibandingkan pasangan nomor 1. Penelitian ini lebih menitikberatkan pada politik identitas masyarakat yang didasarkan pada kekuatan titah raja sebagai pemimpin tertinggi di Kerajaan Sekala Brak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penyebab masyarakat adat Kepaksian Sekala Brak tidak mematuhi titah raja pada pada pemilihan Gubernur dan Wakil Gubernur Lampung 2018. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan menggunakan teori politisasi identitas primordialisme dan instrumentalisme. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah, masyarakat tidak mematuhi titah raja dikarenakan masyarakat telah terbuka fikirannya untuk memilih sesuai dengan hati nurani. Berdasarkan pada pendekatan primordialisme, raja sebagai pemimpin tertinggi pada Kepaksian Sekala Brak tetap memiliki wewenang dalam mengatur keberlangsungan penyelenggraaan pemerintahan adat. Sedangkan berdasarkan pendekatan instrumentalisme, Pemilukada di Kepaksian Sekala Brak, dipengaruhi oleh Peran elit politik lokal menggunakan jasa tokoh masyarakat untuk memuluskan kepentingan politik. Kuatnya adat dan patuhnya masyarakat pada peraturan adat, dimanfaatkan oleh elit politik untuk memberikan dukungan kepada calon tertentu. This study focused more on the politics of community identity based on the power of the king's command as the highest leader in the Kingdom of Sekala Brak. The purpose of this study was to determine the cause of the indigenous people of Sekala Brak's testimony not to obey the king's decree in the election of the Governor and Deputy Governor of Lampung 2018. This research uses descriptive research method with qualitative approach and uses identity politics theory with primordialism and instrumentalism approaches. The results of this study are, society does not approve the king's order to cause people to open their minds to choose according to conscience. Based on the primordialism approach, the king as the supreme leader in the Sekala Brak's Witness still has the authority to regulate the continuity of the administration of adat government. Whereas based on the instrumentalism approach, Pemilukada in the Sekala Brak testimony is influenced by the role of local political elites using the services of community leaders to smooth political interests. The strength of adat and community adherence to customary rules are used by political elites to provide support to certain candidates.
