  • This research was aimed to investigate whether there was statistically significant improvement of students’ reading comprehension achievement on narrative texts after the implementation of the picture series technique. It was conducted at SMAN 1 Pringsewu in the academic year of 2019/2020. The subjects were 33 students of the first grade. Pre-test and post-test design were applied in this research. The data were collected by using reading tests in form of multiple choice objective test with four alternative answers. The data were in form of scores taken from the pre-test and post-test and they were analyzed by using Paired Sample t-test. The result of pre-test and post-test were calculated and compared using SPSS 2.0 to see the significance level. The result showed that the significance level was less than 0.05. It also indicated that there was a statistically significant improvement of students’ reading comprehension achievement after the implementation of picture series technique. In addition, identifying main idea was the aspect that improved the most, meanwhile understanding vocabulary was the lowest improved aspect. Therefore, this suggests that the picture series technique facilitates students to improve their reading comprehension achievement.
