  • ABSTRACT IMPROVING STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN WRITING NARRATIVE TEXTSTHROUGH TEXTLESS COMIC AT THE FIRST GRADE OF SMAN 15 BANDARLAMPUNG By Adhiguna Panji Laksamana The aims of the research were to find out whether there was an improvement of the students’ writing ability in narrative text after the students had taught through textless comic and the students’ perceptions towards the implementation of textless comic as the teaching media. The research was a quantitative-qualitative research. The design used in this research was one group pretest and posttest. The subjects were 28 students of class X MIA 1 of SMAN 15 Bandar Lampung. The instruments were writing test in form of essay interview protocol that the contents are about: difficulty, stress, confidence, interest, and motivation. The data were in form of scores taken from the pretest and posttest and they were analyzed by using Paired Sample t-test. The results showed that there was a statistical improvement of the students’ writing ability in narrative texts. Furthermore, the result of the interview showed that students found it easy and relaxed while learning narrative texts through textless comic. This suggests that textless comic facilitates the students to improve their writing ability. Keywords: textless comic, narrative text, writing.
