ON KIDNEY HISTOPATHOLOGY IN MALE ALBINO RATS (Rattus novergicus) STRAIN Sprague dawley INDUCED BY USED COOKING OIL By IRMA LIANI Background: Oxidative stress can cause damage to the organs including the kidneys. One of the causes of oxidative stress was free radicals from used cooking oil. Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) rhizome extract worked as an antioxidant for protecting kidneys from injury caused by the oxidative stress. This study aims to determine the effects of the protective attributes and the increase in dose against damage to the rat’s kidney tissue (Rattus norvegicus) that were induced by used cooking oil. Method: This study used 25 rats divided into 5 groups. The negative control (K1) was given distilled water 1 ml / day, the positive control (K2) was given used cooking oil 1.5 ml / day, the treatment group (P1, P2, P3) were given used cooking oil 1.5 ml and turmeric rhizome extract with successive doses-according to 25, 50, and 100 mg orally for 28 days. Then the rat kidney is taken to be examined microscopically. Result: The mean score of kidney damage obtained was K1 = 1,08, K2 = 1,48, P1 = 1,4, P2 = 1,08, P3 = 1,28. Data analysis using the Kruskal Wallis Test found that the hypothesis was accepted and continued with Post Hoc Man Whitney and the significant mean results were obtained between the groups in K1 and K2, K1 and P1, K2 and P2, P1 and P2. TERHADAP GAMBARAN HISTOPATOLOGI GINJAL TIKUS PUTIH JANTAN GALUR Sprague dawley YANG DIINDUKSI MINYAK JELANTAH Oleh IRMA LIANI Latar Belakang: Stress oksidatif dapat menyebabkan kerusakan organ termasuk ginjal. Salah satu penyebab stress oksidatif adalah radikal bebas dari minyak jelantah. Ekstrak rimpang kunyit (Curcuma longa L.) sebagai antioksidan untuk proteksi ginjal dari kerusakan akibat stress oksidatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek protektif dan peningkatan dosis terhadap kerusakan jaringan ginjal tikus (Rattus norvegicus) yang diinduksi minyak jelantah. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan 25 ekor tikus yang dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok. Kontrol negatif (K1) diberikan aquades 1 ml/hari, kontrol positif (K2) diberikan minyak jelantah 1,5 ml/hari, kelompok perlakuan (P1, P2, P3) diberikan minyak jelantah 1,5 ml dan ekstrak rimpang kunyit dengan dosis berturut-turut 25, 50, dan 100 mg peroral selama 28 hari. Kemudian dilakukan pengambilan ginjal tikus untuk diperiksa secara mikroskopis. Hasil: Rerata skor kerusakan ginjal yang didapatkan adalah K1=1,08, K2=1,48, P1=1,4, P2=1,08, P3=1,28. Analisis data menggunakan Uji Kruskal Wallis didapatkan bahwa hipotesis diterima dan dilanjutkan dengan Post Hoc Man Whitney dan didapatkan hasil perbedaan rerata bermakna antara kelompok K1 dan K2, K1 dan P1, K2 dan P2, P1 dan P2. Simpulan: Terdapat efek protektif ekstrak rimpang kunyit terhadap gambaran histopatologi ginjal tikus putih jantan (Rattus novergicus) yang diinduksi minyak jelantah Kata Kunci: antioksidan, ekstrak rimpang kunyit, histopatologi ginjal, minyak jelantah
