  • This research is aimed: 1) To describe how picture series are best implemented in the English teaching and learning process to enhance students’ write in learning English, and 2) To describe the problems encountered during the process of learning using picture series in the class. This research is descriptive qualitative research that would be conducted in Tenth Grade of SMKN 1 Kotabumi in the year 2017/2018. The participants of this research were X Office Administration One. The data were taken from the observation and interview. The results of the observation and interview show that in the process of teaching writing through picture series, there were some of students who had significant improve in writing when they applied the four strategies of process teaching writing by using picture series, implementing picture series: to direct the students to write in the correct organisation, to generate ideas, to improve the students’ grammar, and to improve the students’ vocabulary, but there were also some groups who still could improve their writing and low self efficacy in applying those strategies. Based on the results of data analysis, it seems reasonable to conclude that reciprocal teaching might be difficult to decrease students’ anxiety and increase self efficacy in teaching reading process. It happened because when students had high anxiety and low self efficacy before, they might become more difficulty to apply the four instructional strategies in reading than students who have low anxiety and high self efficacy, because English is a foreign language in Indonesia. Not all of students have good capability in English. They might have difficulty to make a prediction, question, clarification unknown word, and summary the text in English. Therefore, the teacher should not only guide and control student in teaching reading process through reciprocal teaching, but also they should do their best to minimize students’ anxiety and improve students’ self efficacy. They should have good relationship with the students. They should be warm and friendly in their relationship with their students. Furthermore, the teacher should be able to create a stress-free, safe, and relaxing atmosphere in the class when she/he teaches reading through reciprocal teaching, so that, students might feel secure, joyful, and motivated to learn English, especially in reading.
