  • This present study is aimed to find out the difference in writing achievement, gender diferences and students’ perception on the implementation of modified video and mind mapping. The subjects of this research were the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Bandar Lampung. The data were obtained from the pre-test, post-test, questionnaire and interview. Independent group t-test in SPSS (Statistical Program for Social Science) was used to analyze the data. The result shows that modified video and mind mapping affected the students writing achievement. It is revealed from the mean score of pre-test, which is 55.03 and the mean score of post-test, which is 74.38. Therefore, the students’ gain score is 19.35. In addition, the result also shows that t-value was higher than t-table with the significance level of less than 0.05 (16.45 ˃ 2.045) (0.000 < 0.05). Then, for the male and female students’ writing, it shows that there is no difference between their writing through the implementation of modified video and mind mapping. It indicates that the quality of idea development in writing of female students was not better than the quality of idea development in writing of male students. In other words, the quality of male and female’s idea development in writing through modified video and mind mapping was equal. It is revealed from the significant level is higher than 0.05 (0.271 ˃ 0.05). Furthermore, the result of students’ perception on the implementation of modified video and mind mapping shows that 98% of students agree that modified video and mind mapping could be applied in the learning process and give some benefits to the students’ writing achievement.
