  • Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan modul berbasis problem based learning, serta mengetahui efektifitasnya terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Yayasan Pendidikan Islam (YPI) 3 Way Jepara Lampung Timur tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Teknik analisis data terdiri dari data kualitatif dan data kuantitatif. Uji efektivitas dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh modul berbasis problem based learning terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) studi pendahuluan menunjukkan kebutuhan dikembangkannya modul berbasis problem based learning, (2) hasil validasi modul berbasis problem based learning menunjukkan bahwa modul termasuk dalam kategori valid, (3) hasil uji efektivitas terhadap modul berbasis problem based learning menunjukkan terjadinya peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang efektif dengan ratarata N-gain 0,62. Kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang menggunakanmodul berbasis problem based learning lebih tinggi dibanding dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa tanpa menggunakan modul berbasis problem based learning. ABSTRACT This research was development research that aims to develop problem based learning-based module, as well as to know effectiveness on students' mathematical communication skills. The subject of this study was the eighthgrade students of Yayasan Pendidikan Islam (YPI) 3 Islamic Middle School Way Jepara East Lampung 2018/2019 academic year. Research data obtained through tests of students' mathematical communication skills. The data analysis technique consist of qualitative data and quantitative data. The effectiveness test was conducted to determine the effect of problem based learning-based module on students' mathematical communication skills. In summary, these results show that, first, the preliminary study indicate the need to develop problem-based module. Second, the results of problem based learning-based module validation indicate that the module was included in the valid category. Lastly, the results of the effectiveness test on problem based learning-based module show an increase in effective mathematical communication skills of students with an average N-gain of 0.62. Mathematical communication skills of students who use problem-based module are higher than students' mathematical communication skills without using problem based learning-based module.
