- Reading is one of language skills, which is very complex for the students to learn. Through reading, students are able to enlarge their vocabulary directly. Reading has many components such as: (1) main idea, (2) specific information, (3) reference, (4) inference, and (5) vocabulary. The process of reading needs a comprehension. There will be no reading when there is no comprehension. This study sought to uncover reading comprehension and their relationship with personality types, whether there is a significant difference between students with extrovert and introvert personality in reading comprehension. The population of this research was the first grade students of SMAN 14 Bandar Lampung in academic year 2017/2018. The sample of this research was X MIA 6 which consisted of 30 students. This research was conducted on April 20th and 23rd 2018. This research applied Expost Facto research design or Criterion-Group study. In this research, the writer used Causal Comparative study design. The data were analyzed by using Independent T-Test. The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference of reading achievement between introvert and extrovert students in with the significant level <0.05. The results of reading mean score for introvert group is 68.43 and the results of reading mean score for extrovert group is 53.75. Students with introvert personality are better in almost those five aspects of reading: identifying main idea, finding specific information, inference, reference, and vocabulary. From the data, inference aspect has the highest mean score among all aspects in reading for each group: extrovert and introvert. This suggests that personalities play important roles in reading comprehension achievement. That is, the students with introvert personality perform better in reading comprehension rather than the students with extrovert personality.
