  • This research was intended to find out whether there was a statistically significant difference of students’ vocabulary achievement after they were taught through STAD technique. The objective of this research was to find out whether STAD can increase students’ achievement in vocabulary between the pretest and the posttest. This research applied one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this research were 34 students of of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandar Lampung in academic year 2015/2016. Multiple choice tests were used to collect the data. The result showed that there was a statistically significant difference of the students’ mean score between the pretest and the posttest with significant level p<0.05 (p=0.000). This suggests that STAD can be used to improve students’ achievement in vocabulary.
