Silika diperoleh dari&#xD; sekam padi melalui metode sol-gel sedangkan alumina dan magnesium oksida&#xD; berasal dari Sigma-Aldrich. Cordierite disintesis melalui metode padatan dengan&#xD; suhu sintering 1200oC. Hasil Pengukuran menunjukan bahwa penambahan&#xD; alumina dapat meningkatkan nilai kekerasan, mengurangi densitas, dan&#xD; meningkatkan porositas. Karakterisasi dengan X-Ray Diffraction (XRD)&#xD; menunjukkan adanya struktur yang diperoleh, yaitu kristobalit, corundum,&#xD; cordierite, spinel, dan periclase. Seiring meningkatnya komposisi alumina pada&#xD; sampel, maka semakin meningkat pula nilai fraksi massa struktur corundum di&#xD; dalam sampel.&#xD; Kata kunci: Alumina, cordierite, kekerasan, sekam padi, struktur, dan X-Ray&#xD; Diffraction.&#xD; &#xD; abstract&#xD; &#xD; This study was carried out to investigate the effect of alumina on hardness&#xD; characteristics, and structure of cordierite. Silica obtained from rice husk through&#xD; sol-gel method, while alumina and magnesium were obtained from Sigma-&#xD; Aldrich. Cordierite was synthesized by the solid state method and sintered at&#xD; 1200&#xB0;C. The measurement results revealed that the addition of alumina on&#xD; cordierite can increased both hardness and porosity, and decrease density. X-Ray&#xD; Diffraction (XRD) showed the existence of vased structures such as cristobalite,&#xD; corundum, cordierite, spinel, and periclase.
