Linguistics</subject><subject>PE English</subject><description>Reading is considered as a difficult language skill to learn. It is because students need to require reading comprehension in order to get the information that is including identifying the main idea, identifying inference, identifying reference, recognizing the detailed information, and discovering the meaning of vocabularies in the reading texts. Therefore, the objectives of the research are to investigate whether there is a significant difference of the students&#x2019; reading comprehension achievement after being taught through Think-Pair-Share (TPS) technique and find out the problems that the students face during the application of TPS.&#xD; The population of this research was the second year students of SMPN 8 Bandar Lampung consisting of nine classes. Two classes were chosen randomly as the experimental class and the try-out class. One group pre-test and post-test design was carried out to analyze whether there is a significant difference of students&#x2019; achievement in reading comprehension before and after being taught through TPS technique. Besides that, after giving the posttest, the interview was done in order to see the problems that the students face during the teaching learning process.&#xD; The result of this research proved that there was a significant difference of students&#x2019; achievement in reading comprehension before and after being taught through TPS technique. It proved that the students&#x2019; scores increased significantly because the value of t-ratio is higher than t-table (9.935&gt;2.042) and the significant level is lower than 0.05 (0.000&lt;0.05). It means that Ho was rejected and H&#x3B1; was accepted. Besides that, there were some problems that had occurred during the application of TPS technique that concerned with the students&#x2019; concentration and their ability in finding the meaning of the difficult words and getting the idea of the text. Therefore, teachers can consider this technique to improve the students&#x2019; reading comprehension achievement.&#xD; Keywords: Think-Pair-Share, TPS technique, reading comprehension.</description><publisher>Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan</publisher><date>2013-07-15</date><type>Thesis:Bachelors</type><type>PeerReview:NonPeerReviewed</type><type>Book:Book</type><identifier>http://digilib.unila.ac.id/1324/1/1%20Cover.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><identifier>http://digilib.unila.ac.id/1324/2/2%20Abstract.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><identifier>http://digilib.unila.ac.id/1324/3/4.%20admitted.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><identifier>http://digilib.unila.ac.id/1324/4/5.surat%20pernyataan.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><identifier>http://digilib.unila.ac.id/1324/5/approval.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><identifier>http://digilib.unila.ac.id/1324/6/11%20List%20of%20tables.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><identifier>http://digilib.unila.ac.id/1324/7/12%20List%20of%20appendices.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><identifier>http://digilib.unila.ac.id/1324/8/Bab%201.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><identifier>http://digilib.unila.ac.id/1324/9/Bab%202.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><identifier>http://digilib.unila.ac.id/1324/10/Bab%203.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><identifier>http://digilib.unila.ac.id/1324/11/Bab%204.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><identifier>http://digilib.unila.ac.id/1324/12/Bab%205.pdf</identifier><type>Book:Book</type><identifier>http://digilib.unila.ac.id/1324/13/References.pdf</identifier><type>Document:Archive</type><identifier>http://digilib.unila.ac.id/1324/14/Lampiran.zip</identifier><identifier> Wagiyono, ARINI AYUNING PALUPI (2013) TEACHING READING COMPREHENSION THROUGH THINK-PAIR-SHARE (TPS) TECHNIQUE AT SMPN 8 BANDAR LAMPUNG.
