  • Hama kelapa Brontispa longissima menyerang kultivar Kelapa Dalam maupun Genjah sehingga dapat menyebabkan penurunan produksi kelapa. Kemampuan makan serangga hama berbeda untuk setiap kultivar kelapa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui laju konsumsi hama B. longissima pada beberapa kultivar kelapa. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Entomologi dan Fitopatologi, Balai Penelitian Tanaman Palma pada tahun 2008. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 12 perlakuan (kultivar kelapa) yang terdiri dari 8 kultivar kelapa Dalam dan 4 kultivar kelapa Genjah dengan ulangan 3 kali. Kultivar kelapa yang digunakan adalah Kelapa Dalam: Bali (DBI), Mamuaya (DMA), Tenga (DTA), Lubuk Pakam (DLP), Mapanget (DMT), Renell (DRL), Palu (DPU) dan Banyuwangi (DBG) serta Kelapa Genjah: Kuning Nias (GKN), Kuning Bali (GKB), Salak (GSK) dan Raja (GRA). Serangga uji adalah larva B. longissima instar 2, 3 dan 4. Masing-masing satuan percobaan menggunakan 20 larva pada setiap instar dan kultivar kelapa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa laju konsumsi hama B. longissima padakultivar kelapa Genjah lebih tinggi daripada kultivar kelapa Dalam. Laju konsumsi (ACR = Approximate Consumption Rate) larva instar 2 – 4 untuk kelapa Dalam bervariasi antara 0,0001 – 0,0113 mg konsumsi/hari dan kelapa Genjah 0,0113 – 0,0226 mg konsumsi/hari. Laju konsumsi relatif (RCR = Relative Consumption Rate) larva instar 2 – 4 untuk kelapa Dalam bervariasi antara 0,0009 – 0,3836 mg konsumsi/mg berat larva/hari dan kelapa Genjah 0,1044 – 0,5137 mg konsumsi/mg berat larva/hari. Insects pest feeding ability are different on each coconut cultivars. The objective of this study was to determine the consumption rate of B. longissima pest on several coconut cultivars. The research was conducted in the laboratory of Entomology and Phytopathology, Indonesian Palm Crops Research Institute in 2008. The research was done by completely randomized design with 12 treatments (coconut cultivars) consists of 8 Tall coconut cultivars and 4 Dwarf coconut cultivars with 3 replications. Coconut cultivars consist of coconut Tall: Bali Tall (BAT), Mamuaya Tall (MAT), Tenga Tall (TAT), Lubukpakam Tall (LPT), Mapanget Tall (MPT), Renell Tall (RLT), Palu Tall (PUT) and Banyuwangi Tall (BGT) and Coconut Dwarf Cultivars: Nias Yellow Dwarf (NYD), Bali Yellow Dwarf (BYD), Salak Green Dwarf (SGD) and Raja Brown Dwarf (RBD). Insects test were 2, 3, and 4 of instar larvae B. longissima. Each trial was used 20 larvae per instar larvae and coconut cultivars. The results showed that the consumption rate of B. longissima on Dwarf cultivars higher than the Tall cultivars.Consumption Rate (ACR = Approximate Consumption Rate) instar larvae 2 – 4 for Tall coconut varied between 0.0001 – 0.0113 mg consumption/day and Dwarf coconut varied between 0.0113 – 0.0226 mg consumption/day. Relative Consumption Rate(RCR) instar larvae 2 – 4 for Tall coconut varied between 0.0009 – 0.3836 mg consumption/mg larvae weight/day and Dwarf coconut 0.1044 – 0.5137 mg consumption/mg larvae weight/day.
