- Recently, the grade of divorce in Indonesia, especially in East Java, has increased. It causes so many victims, one of them is the children. They loss the guidance and love from their parents. Sometimes, the widows/widowers are able to live with their kids, but the others are not, then they decided to have second marriage. If they decide to many again, they have to make good adaptation whether with the children, husbands or wives in their new family. Sometimes, in the process of adaptation, they can do it well but sometimes they don’t. Therefor, this study is aimed to know how the adolescent opinions and feeling towards the presence of new father or mother, their communication, and the view of their self adaptation with their new parents. This is a descriptive qualitative study. The subjects of the study are 3 people who are 15-17 years old. Some of the subjects have step mother, and some other subjects have step fathers. The method of the data collection used in this study is interview, and the method of the data legitimation is triangulation with the source. The result of the study shows that self adaptation of Na, lq, and Dd began with the refusal, and subjects need time to have good adaptation with their new parents, Nevertheless, Na, Iq, Dd are willing to have good relation with their parents. Whereas, Na thinks that the presence of his/her new mother can’t change his/her mother, she/he is afraid that the presence of his/her new mother will destroy her/his family. Iq feels that not only his/her step father bothers her/his life but also blocks his/her life’ goals. Dd feels that his/her mother has been forgotten by his/her father. His/her father is unfair with his/her mother. Dd doesn’t agree with his/her father’s marriage. The community of Na and his/her step mother is carried Out in limited ways and the subject only asks her about simple questions. lq only communicates with his/her father in certain time with important things. While Dd is domineered by his/her step mother. The mother is open with Dd, then Dd starts to communicate with his/her step mother slowly.
