- Having affair is phenomenon happened long ago since marriage being instituted legally. Recently, affair becomes interesting topic and many talked about it. Religion and culture strictly refused any affairs in family. Much of affair cases were interesting fact to discuss especially related background factors as causes of it. The fact happened that affair is not dominated by husbands anymore, in other words, wife in any group in also commitment affair. A woman who belongs to a marriage means that she has commitment. However, lack of woman commitment in marriage to do her function resulted in many reasons of doing affair. Thus, this research purposed to find out factors why women having affair. This study descriptive qualitative one, using interview as data collecting method. The subject consisted of 3 wives who committed affairs, that they have relationship other that their marriage or having relationship physically and emotionally or both with other than their husbands. The validity test used technique of source triangulation. The research showed that factors why these wives having affair was internal one consisted of weak control of super ego, no fulfillment on affection need from husband. The second factor was internal one that lack of time with husband and togetherness with one man (subject R with her ex-boy friend, subject E with college friend and subject S with her boss). Moreover, high sexual libido, same problem, wealthy of boss, friend's influence and agreement become background factors of having affair. This study also found types of affair, namely subject R belongs to the thrill affair, subject E the boat-rocking affair, the exit affair and the thrill affair, and subject S come to the thrill affair and the exit affair.
