  • Nowadays, there are more and more students choosing home schooling program as one of the form of alternative education for their learning media. There are some reasons underlining this choice and the form of instruction chosen. There are some advantages of choosing this kind of program, one of which is to maximize their potency in the field they fell interested in without disturbing the school schedule. The home schooling is divided into three types, namely single home schooling, plural home schooling and community home schooling. All those three have its own strengths and weaknesses with all their consequences. Among those competencies is in the form of interpersonal competency with their peers. This interpersonal competency is very much needed as every human is born to be a social being. Based on that background, then this study is aimed to give a clear description in relation with the interpersonal competency for teenagers joining the home schooling program and some underlining factors or so. This is a descriptive qualitative study. The samples are three students joining the single home schooling in Yayasan Bina Mekanika Jakarta. The data collection method used is semi organized interview and observation. The result of this study shows that those subjects joining the home schooling program have the interpersonal competency since they show their ability to have initiative conduct, have a broad minded, assertive, and give a emotional support and the way to solve the conflict. And the activities supported the interpersonal factors are: taking a walk, watching movie, playing PS, practicing band, and practicing vocal together. This interpersonal competency can not be separated from the influencing factors namely the personality traits, the social contact that the subjects make to their parents, the thinking maturity and the active participation in social activity.
