  • Playing actually is the child’s world. By doing play it would makes children recognize and identify their world and their environment, give them opportunity to learn about problem solving procedure, and it would develop their creativity either. One of the playing game which has been the object of this study is role playing. The benefit of the role playing game which has played by the mild mentally retarded children is they would get become can creatifitid and imajination. By doing the role playing game, the mild mentally retarded children could develop their self confidence, their responsibility, and willing to cooperate with their peers. The purpose of this research is to identify the role playing game which has played by 6 to 9 years old children with mild mental retardation. The data gathering method are by doing observation to the role playing games which has played by four mild mentally retarded 6 to 9 years old children and by doing the directed interview with the parents of the research subject. And the analysis that we used in this research is the qualitative analysis. By the analysis, then we could summarized: (1) The variety of the theme in the role playing games which has played by the mild mentally retarded children is affected by the developmental stage of the children them self. Higher the age of the mild mentally retarded children, higher the variation of the role playing game theme they would play. (2) The trend of the game played by 6 to 9 years old children with mild mental retardation is means they would involved others in the role playing game they have played, nevertheles sometimes they would play the means they would play the role playing game without others involved. In this case, the game stage is less complex. (3) The stimulation of the game played is by the instruments they would use in it. (4) The frequency of the role playing game is about one time in a day. The older child has more interest in the role playing game than younger one.
