- This study is aimed to found out the thinking paradigm of teachers in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Malang particularly certified teachers concerning the teacher certification, and to found out about change that occurs within the learning innovation postcertification. Meanwhile to found out about general assessment of performance and teacher competence postcertification is done bycoworker and employees. This study is using qualitative and quantitative approach with study subject is certifiedteacher in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. Selection of the particular high school as the study setting is based on obtained data by previous researchers, amount of certifiedteacher in this high school for the year 2009 is bigger compared with other SMA Muhammadiyah in the city of Malang. Data collection is done through direct and structured observation, interview, questionnaire and documentation. Questionnaire data is given toward 20 respondent compose of 10 (ten) teachers and 10 (ten) students. For the data analysis, this study is using qualitative data analysis model. Study result has show that in certifiedteacher’s perspective, certification is one form of reward by the government toward teachers for their service commencing education at school. While according the coworker and employees, performance and competence of certified teacher is not yet shows any significant changing, and it doesn’t close any chance that there are several competence gaining increase, although just in a really small percentage, and from the view of Social Science Class XI students, certified teacher still no have not show any learning innovation in class. Learning is still attached toward old method and learning media.
