- A large amount of the potensial of cowdung as raw material for biogas is untapped, even evoke pollution and environmental health problem because of the farmer throw away cowdung into the river. The use of biodigester can help to develop farming systems by recycling the cowdung for biogas production and other product like organic fertilizer with good quality. Nevertheless the use of conventional biodigester was not easy for small scale farmer due to high cost, lack of skilled labor and the complicated maintenance. The objectives of this research were to construction design of biodigester which easy to assemble, low cost, have a good performance and made from Stainless steel SUS 304 for small scale farmer (with 3 – 5 cows). The result of this experiment showed that biodigester design based polyethilene plastic with these specification: Total Volume of biodigester 5 m3, wet volume 4 m3, retention time 30 day, loading rate 132 kg/day, trench slope 45, and the dimension for gas storage are 2.04 m height, 0,954 m in diameter, with 2,5 m3 effective volume. Based on performance test, the range of working temperature at biodigester was 19-20oC, acid substrat level 6,58-7,7, which still at a good range for bacteria to live, VS decomposition reached 34 %. Production capacity is 1,44 m3 or able to cook for 3 – 4 hour and 0,16 m3/kg VS production rate.
