- Condition of hidrologi in Indonesia and anywhere is typically, so that do not all way of and all concept can be used to solve problem hydrology in Indonesia especially in the Drainage Area Brantas Upstream precisely at the Drainage Area Metro. Rain is the important input component of the hydrologic cycle. Rain characteristic among others is intensity, duration, depth, and frequency. Intensity relate to frequency and duration can be expressed with Intensity-Duration-Frequency ( IDF) curves. IDF curves can be used to calculate floods plan by utilizing rational method. In this research of daily rainfall calculated with frequency analysis started with determining daily rainfall maximum average, then calculate statistical parameter to chosen most compatible distribution. Time occurence of dominant rain that is duration occurence of rain with biggest frequency. Intensity calculated by utilizing data of observation. Be based on frequency analysis apparently forecast rain for return period 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 year successively is 49; 70; 86; 111; 132 and 155 mm. Result of research indicate that level of time occurence of dominant rain among 4-8 hours. IDF curves the Drainage Area Metro pursuant to data of observation in general pattern indicate where rain always early with high intensity later longer downhill progressively. Besides is ever greater of return period to tend to have rain intensity which is excelsior. Result of from this research still amendable even if is possible modified as according to typical condition of the Drainage Area Metro.
