- Future orientation is one of cognitive growth phenomenon occurred in adolescence. In this case, the meant adolescents are orphanage adolescents, who have many limited materials and facilities. The purpose of this research is to know the future orientation description of orphanage’s adolescents. This research is descriptive qualitative research. It is conducted on July 22nd, July 29th and August 5th, 2007 with 31 orphanage adolescents as the subject. Using questionnaire of future orientation of orphanage adolescents collects data. Data analysis uses frequency tabulation. Data analysis result shows that the future orientation of orphanage adolescents is continue their education to the higher level (90,32%) with some reasons, such as: have larger knowledge, able to develop their knowledge, able to find out the right occupation for their own future and to be a successful man. Further is working (83,87%) with some reasons, such as: they want to help and to repay their parents merit, to pay college cost and want to be autonomous. The desire of continuing education to the higher level and work begin to rise in orphanage adolescents at 16-18 years in ages, both male and female. While, the desire to marriage has the smallest percentages, 6,45% with the reasons that everybody will experience it definitely and married is the beginning of future time. The 18 years old and female adolescents are the one who have thought about marriage. When the orphanage adolescents have future orientation of continuing education to the higher level, they will get large obstruction, that is cost (80,65%) and the existence of a necessity to serve the orphanage for 1 year. While the obstruction for the orphanage adolescent with working orientation is the least experience in the work world (16,13%). To determine the future orientation of orphanage adolescent is supported by parents, mother, father, relative and friends in orphanage, their own self, orphanage caretaker, donors, uncle and aunt. The form of support is spirit to keep on learning, trying and praying and some advice to reach their aspirations.
