- This study was focused on the teaching techniques applied by the English teacher in teaching vocabulary to the fourth grades and fifth grades students at SD Al-Munawarah Plus Pamekasan. Consequently, the purpose of the study were: (1) The techniques used by the teacher in teaching vocabulary for fourth and fifth grades students of SD Al-Munawarah Plus, (2) The students’ responses to the applied techniques uesd by the teacher to teach vocabulary. In this study the descriptive design was used to obtain the data concerning the research problems. This study focused on the fourth and fifth grades students and the teacher as subject. There were two instruments used in taking data: interview and observation.furthermore, the researcher set up the observational checklist, and she used tape recorder to record the interview with the teacher. The research findings showed that the techniques applied by the teacher in teaching English vocabulary were games (Bingo), colour parsing, guessing picture, asking the right question,a nd singing a song. The teacher application of those techniques was appropriate with the text book, made students study English easier, and relevent with procedure of techniques teaching English vocabulary. Most of the students gave positive responses, at fourth grades the students responses were very enthusiastic and happy. Meanwhile, at fifth grades the students responses was enthusiastic but a few students felt bored.
