- This research entitle is "SECTORAL ECONOMIC POTENCY IN SUB-PROVINCE of PASURUAN YEAR 2001-2005”. Intention of this research is to analyze mean growth rate each economic sector of Sub-Province of Pasuruan, sectoral contribution to economic of Sub-Province of Pasuruan, and or competitiveness of Sub-Province of Pasuruan. Analyzer used to know the happening of growth rate is analysis of prosentage that is sector value of I final year lessened by sector value of I year early divided with sector value of I year early. To know sectoral contribution is by comparing the sector value I of currently year ( t) with total of PDRB in the same year. And also to know performance or competitiveness of work, it is used analyzer of PS and of DS. Using data of PDRB Sub-Province of Pasuruan and PDRB East Java, result of calculation by percentage analyzer expresses happened increase of growth rate during 4 (four) year (2002-2005) that is equal to (14.23%). The biggest sectoral contribution is by 3 sectors, they are processing industrial sector equal to 31.96%, agricultural sector equal to 26.21%, and commercial sector, restaurant and hotel equal to 20.63%. Result analysis of shift and share, there are three highly competitive sectors, they are processing industrial sector (equal to 128,737.34), construction sector (equal to 33,503.37) and financial sector, company service and rental (equal to 7,228.28) From the result analysis of sectoral economic potency in Sub-Province of Pasuruan is known there are 3 (three) potential sectors which have high category or value compared with other sectors that are processing industrial sector, agricultural sector and commercial sector, hotel, and restaurant. According to the conclusion, it can implicate that it is better if the government of sub- province Pasuruan give attention more to the development of potential sector and do appropriate policies of economic as a sectoral repair effort of economic.
