- Indonesia is rich of art and culture. The various culture in Indonesia imaged the special characters of each region, like East Java, which has various culture potential, one of them is Malang. Malang is a rich of art and culture. Various art and culture could be presented like Ludruk, Ketoprak, Wayang Orang, Wayang Kulit, Reog, Kuda Lumping, Sendra tari, and now there is one new art developed in Malang City, it is "BANTENGAN" art. There was also workshop presented Malangan mask making. Visitors, especially tourists were free to see how artist created mask. All activities had paked into Malangan culture events in Malang City. One of them were Regional Festival People Party (Pesta Rakyat Festival Kesenian Daerah), Culture Tourism Week, Culture Workshop Activity, Wayang Kulit Presentation, and the most interested event was Malang Return to Old Time (Malang Tempoe Doeloe). All examples stated that Malang was rich of culture. Through the culture Malang presented messages to wide-society. Through the messages, the people had opinion about Malang itself. By Malangan culture event, people would be interested to visit Malang, which all visitors would have different frequency and opinion for Malang City. The research statement of problems were whether any correlation between frequency of visiting culture event in Malang with student’s opinion about Malang city, especially students of communication department University of Muhammadiyah Malang study year 2006 from outside Malang. The research used explanative research (testing variables). Location was done at students of communication department University of Muhammadiyah Malang study year 2006 from outside Malang. The population were 150 respondents. The population was found from pre survey with conditions: students of communication department from outside Malang and at least visiting culture events in Malang 4 times. There found the samples were 109 with Taro Yamane equation with 5% precision. Sampling technique was random sampling. The technique was random taking of population as samples. While method used in the research was survey, data collection technique used questionnairre and documentation. Data analysis technique used Pearson product moment equation. r = From data analysis, there could be concluded that there were relation between frequency of visiting culture events in Malang with students opinion about Malang. There was 0.583% correlation and it could be grouped into average category since it had 0.40 – 0.5999 interval. In this research, there could be said that both variables had significant relation so that the research suggested the next researcher to pay attention to the other variables influenced students opinion about Malang city to create more optimal research.
